NABAS The Balloon & Party Industry’s Trade Association

NABAS is continually searching for new and valuable benefits and we are thrilled to announce yet another way we are able to support our members. We are delighted to have teamed up with Terracycle to make it easy for our members and their customers to responsibly recycle their balloons, regardless of whether they are latex, foil or plastic!

Who are Terracycle?

Terracycle is a global leader in recycling who aim to eliminate waste by turning traditionally hard to recycle items into valuable raw materials that can be reused. By becoming involved, NABAS members can take advantage of 5 key benefits;

  1. More recycling means less waste into landfill – that’s got to be a good thing!
  2. Corporate clients are increasingly looking for their suppliers to show proof of their social responsibility and sustainability – promoting your participation in this scheme on your website and social media will make it really easy for corporate clients to see your involvement and may encourage them to contact you over your competitors
  3. Educating your customers about how easy it is for them to responsibly dispose of their balloon waste can encourage loyalty. Clients who like to recycle may choose you over other balloon suppliers if they know they can recycle their balloons with you.
  4. Getting involved couldn’t be easier – you’ll be able to order your box on our website and have it directly delivered to you to start recycling straight away.
  5. NABAS are so passionate about minimising the impact of balloon waste on the environment that we are heavily subsidising the cost of each box to our members – instead of £175+vat per box our members will only have to pay £35+vat.

So what’s included in the price?

It is a one-off payment per box that covers the whole end to end process. Once you’ve purchased your box via NABAS it will be delivered to you to be filled with the items listed further down. When it is completely full you seal the box, scan the pre-paid delivery label already attached and contact UPS to arrange collection. The process then starts again – it’s as simple as that!

What items can be recycled?

The following products can be recycled in our boxes (the boxes also list what can be included):

  • Balloons (including latex, foil and plastic, and also including products that have been treated with hi float or had vinyl applied)
  • Costume masks
  • Dining disposables (food and drink must be scraped off / drained first)
  • Non-electronic decorations
  • Party hats and glasses
  • Party supplies
  • Plastic flowers
  • Plastic straws
  • Ribbons and bows

Only products on the list can be recycled, anything else (such as weights or products that are already recycled) cannot go into these boxes.
