Amidst a dreary May day, we had the pleasure of catching up with Dawn Chamberlain, the vibrant founder of Bromley Cross Balloons in Bolton. Her journey into the world of balloon artistry began in 2014, marking a shift from her previous career in financial services.

Dawn’s transition was sparked by the wonderful news that her and her husband were going to become grandparents. Inspired by family celebrations, she embarked on creating stunning balloon displays that quickly garnered praise and recommendations. With the support of loved ones and local connections, Dawn ventured into establishing her own business.

Her path to professional expertise included pivotal training with industry leaders like Mitch Gilbert and certifications through NABAS. These experiences not only honed her skills but also introduced her to a supportive community of fellow balloon artists, whom she now considers friends.

Reflecting on her journey, Dawn cherishes the camaraderie fostered by NABAS and the invaluable insights gained from attending events like the British Balloon Bash. She thrives on both the intricate details of smaller projects and the creative challenges posed by large corporate events, recalling with laughter the memorable experience of crafting balloons in the pouring rain.

Despite the industry’s challenges, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dawn remains optimistic about its recovery. She encourages newcomers to the field to trust in their abilities, maintain pricing integrity, and seek support from peers during tough times.
